An answering service for a business that cannot staff a front desk

Nearly every contractor and clinic here says the same thing: the phone rings while everyone is up a ladder, in an exam room or under a truck. The call goes to voicemail, or the caller tries the next number. During a heat wave or after a storm, that is a booked job becoming someone else's.

An AI receptionist answers that line and says in her first sentence that she is an AI. She answers what people ask a local trades business: areas covered, emergency calls, hours, what to have ready. She can be set up to work after hours, so a call at 7 PM Saturday is not waiting until Monday.

She takes a message, or an appointment request with a day and a time window, then reads it back so a wrong number is caught on the call instead of at the door. Your office confirms the booking. An AI that claims a slot it has not checked is worse than no AI at all.

A site that loads fast and works on a phone

Most people looking for a plumber or a clinic number are on a phone, on one bar of signal and in a hurry. A site that takes six seconds, or buries the number under three menus, loses them.

I build pages by hand in plain HTML with one stylesheet. No page builder, no trackers, no cookie banner. Every page gets a one-tap call button and an email button. The copy comes from a short interview, so you correct me until it sounds like your business. For a city or county department I hand over files your IT staff can host themselves.

What it costs: $495 for one page, $850 for five, $90 for each extra page, and $49 a month for hosting, HTTPS, backups and up to 30 minutes of small changes. Half at the start, half at handoff, and the domain stays in your name. Full price list.

What this will not do for you

• She is not a dispatcher. She takes the call and the details; she does not assign technicians or promise arrival times.
• She does not put anything on your calendar. She takes a request and reads it back; your office confirms it with the caller.
• No text messages yet. Not to callers and not to your staff.
• The line can be busy or down. No phone system is immune and I will not say otherwise. I can set up a fallback and tell you what it is.
• No promise of a search ranking. Clean pages help a site get found; nobody honest guarantees a position.
• No clients to name yet. This is a new, one-person business with no customer list. What I have is a live site you can inspect, a recording of a real call I will send you, a fixed price and a written scope.

If that rules me out for the job you have, that is a fair outcome, and better reached before you spend anything.
